Replacing Mulch for the YMCA

The agents at Keller Williams Arizona Realty in Prescott spent their 2023 Prescott Red Day spreading sustainable and recycled rubber mulch on the playground for the Prescott YMCA of Yavapai County.

The Prescott YMCA was founded in the city in 1974. The organization allows persons of all ages to participate in recreational and sports activities. Guests can relax and have fun in a safe and supportive environment.

The YMCA serves Prescott and several surrounding communities. These communities include Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, and Dewy-Humboldt. Additionally, the nearby towns of Mayer, Paulden, Wilhoit, and Williamson Valley benefit from the organization.

1st 2023 Prescott Red Day Project:

Laying 22 tons of rubberized mulch (on pallets) in the children’s playground. 3.5 inches deep throughout. A map shows how 22 bags need to be positioned so Agents could cut them open and then spread mulch. The Agents first had to move smaller playground equipment out prior to spreading the mulch.

2nd 2023 Prescott Red Day Project:

Clean up the center planter and remove the border. Afterward, rake and level the area (includes removing small fence, bricks, and weeds).

2023 Prescott Red Day Creates Beauty and Functionality!

Agents in Prescott and additional volunteers helped make the YMCA playground and garden area beautiful and highly functional. Kids playing on the new mulch will be safer on this new material. The mulch in the garden highlights the plants. The red color of the mulch also helps show the vibrancy of the plant’s green leaves in the flower bed.

Tara Fish, a member of the Culture Committee, led the 2023 Prescott Red Day initiative. She worked with Agents and Leadership Team members to identify the projects, organize the resources, and corral the Agents and volunteers. Tara credits the success of the day to the strong Keller Williams culture and the help of many Agents in the office who contributed time and energy to the projects.

Tara shared the following heartwarming comments:

“We laid 22 tons of rubberized mulch in their playground. Removed an old large planter and leveled the area. Which included 5 truck loads + of debris, center block and old fencing. Cleaned up an additional planter, removed fence, weeded, Dug holes and planted additional bushes. Put down a weed barrier and laid wood chips in planter.

What difference it made for these children. Many community members stopped and were extremely happy to see the improvements.

The mulch had set for over a year because YMCA had no man power to get the mulch laid.

In one of the videos the kids said it was amazing and like popcorn. The smile and excitement the children has after made it worth our time.”
