(Scottsdale, Arizona — June 17, 2022): Keller Williams Arizona Realty is pleased to announce a new scholarship at Scottsdale Community College. The Keller Williams Arizona Realty Scholarship is for students who belong to groups that are underrepresented in the real estate industry and have a demonstrated financial need. One $500 scholarship will be available each semester for a minimum of three years, beginning with the Fall 2022 semester.
David Morse, CEO/Team Leader at Keller Williams Arizona Realty, notes this new scholarship will offer diversity students interested in real estate, who cannot afford the tuition, an opportunity to pursue a career in this industry. “Keller Williams values diversity,” Morse notes. “The Keller Williams Belief System includes Equity, meaning opportunities for all. We believe all people should have the opportunity to pursue a career in real estate. With the creation of this scholarship, we hope to welcome many new participants into the exciting world of real estate.”
The Keller Williams Arizona Realty Scholarship criteria includes the following:
- Preference given to a member of an underrepresented group in real estate, such as Indigenous, Hispanic, Black, Other [e.g. person with a disability, LGBTQIA+].
- Financial need, as demonstrated in their essay.
- Qualifies for in-county tuition.
- Enrolled in Scottsdale Community College’s Real Estate: Prelicense Certificate of Completion (CCL) program, which includes REA201 and REA290AH.
- Must be eligible to legally become a licensed real estate agent in Arizona according to Arizona Department of Real Estate regulations located at https://azre.gov/licensees/original-licensing-information.
- Students who reside in Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, and Gilbert receive preference.
According to Susan Sandblom, Business Faculty and Chair at Scottsdale Community College, all classes must be taken through the Scottsdale Community College campus, located at 9000 E. Chaparral Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85256. REA201 satisfies the 90 prelicensing hours required by the Arizona Department of Real Estate prior to sitting for the state exam. The 90 hours are taken online but students also need to pass an in-person school exam to earn their certificate to sit for the state exam. REA290AH is an in-person class offered on a Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. For fall it is scheduled for September 17, October 22, and December 3. SCC is working toward approval for the Contract Writing class to be online for the Spring 2023 semester.
