Meet Agni Mitra!

An interview with Agni Mitra, REALTOR® at Keller Williams Arizona Realty. Agni serves as the Co-Chairperson of the Growth Committee on the Keller Williams Arizona Realty Agent Leadership Council (ALC) for 2022.

1. Tell us about your background and interest in real estate.

I am originally from Kolkata, India. Many friends would call me a renaissance man, as I have many artistic interests and I have even published an anthology of poetry around 1992-3. However, I chose to go come to the United States for graduate school in South Carolina. I obtained my Ph.D. in Engineering at Penn State, and have been a resident of Arizona since 2000. My daughter Alyssa who is 18 attends high school in Phoenix. My son Corey who is 16 attends online school, and is a competitive gymnast.

Over the past twenty years my career has been mostly in Engineering. I have worked for Motorola and multiple iterations of that company as it was bought out, taken private, and reorganized. At one point, Motorola Semiconductor Products Sector became Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. Some parts of it became Philips Semiconductors. Other parts were sold to a private equity firm, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. Vestiges of the company were then spun out of its parent company Royal Philips to become NXP Semiconductors. It has been quite interesting to see how companies grow and evolve over time.

After I came to Arizona, I sought to obtain my real estate license because I wanted to invest. I eventually bought a condominium, and then I bought another one. At that time, I thought real estate would be a good second career. After the Covid pandemic hit, my Engineering position was eliminated. As a result, I decided to go into the real estate market full time, and I have really enjoyed working in this field. In fact, my wife Adrienne Mitra recently obtained her real estate license, and she is joining me to work in this exciting industry!

2. What specifically brought you to Keller Williams Arizona Realty?

My real estate agent, who also became my advisor, was Don Aldrich. Don had mentioned the Keller Williams Profit Share program. He then explained it in detail to me, and I became very interested in working at Keller Williams to participate in such a great program. The other part that drew me to KWAZ is the amazing culture.

The agents here and the market center leadership team truly live their lives and work according to the KW Culture beliefs.

Win-Win: or no deal
Integrity: do the right thing
Customers: always come first
Commitment: in all things
Communication: seek first to understand
Creativity: ideas before results
Teamwork: together everyone achieves more
Trust: starts with honesty
Equity: opportunities for all
Success: results through people

3. What do you like most about working at this brokerage?

Keller Williams Arizona Realty is like a family to me. The leadership team takes very good care of me and my family. When I was sick with Covid, my daughter was able to get rides to school and work. She did not have a driver’s license then, and the Technical Director, Casey Doty, volunteered to help transport her to where she needed to go. Is this is culture of caring that I like the most about his brokerage.

4. Tell us about your Committee and its focus.

The Growth Committee’s focus is to grow the market center, and to promote the Profit Share program. I am a Co-Chairperson, and the other Co-Chairperson is David Johnson. This program is like a gift that is given to every agent. It is a blessing, and I want to share this with everyone so they understand how it works. I also want everyone to participate in the program. This will in turn invite even more growth to the market center. Growth creates our culture, and this is why I am so passionate about it.

5. What motivated you to accept the leadership position of your Committee?

This leadership position provide me with a way that I can influence and have a positive impact on the market center. I want to help the market center grow. I also want to help bring opportunities to all the other agents here at Keller Williams Arizona Realty.

6. What do you hope your Committee is able to achieve this year?

Our Committee has a very specific and well-defined goal:

15% increase in Profit Share participation

We believe KWAZ will grow with the right people who are attracted by our culture and want to participate in the Profit Share program. This is one of the reasons why my wife Adrienne just joined KWAZ–so she can participate in the Profit Share program!

7. Where will we meet Agni Mitra in the future?

Profit Share is my exit strategy. Before that, though, I want to help grow the market center and grow my business by 50% in the next 5 years. I also love to travel, and we own Celebrations International Travel, an agency we have a lot of fun with.

My interests are many, and quite varied. I like to watch and play sports. In college, I used to play tennis and table tennis. Our shared interest in tennis is one of the areas where Don Aldrich and I were able to bond. Recently I even took up pickleball! And I love to read books, both fiction and non-fiction. My favorite author of fiction is P.G. Wodehouse.
