Meet David and Shannon Johnson! An interview with David and Shannon Johnson. David is Co-Chairperson of the Growth Committee on the Keller Williams Arizona Realty Agent Leadership Council (ALC) for 2022. Shannon is Co-Chairperson of the Culture Committee on the Keller Williams Arizona Realty Agent Leadership Council (ALC) for 2022. Meet David and Shannon Johnson!

 

An interview with David and Shannon Johnson. David is a Luxury REALTOR® with Signature Estate Group in Scottsdale. He is the Co-Chairperson of the Growth Committee, and Shannon is the Co-Chairperson of the Culture Committee on the Keller Williams Arizona Realty Agent Leadership Council (ALC) for 2022.

 

1. Tell us about your background and interest in real estate.

 

David: I have been involved in real estate for many years both in Florida and Arizona. We also have a small boutique team in Denver, Colorado specializing in ranch and land that opened late last year. My passion around real estate has always been with luxury, Ranch and Land, on both the buying and selling side. 

 

I am somewhat unique here because I am an equestrian myself. Shannon and I owned a large commercial horse ranch in south central Colorado for many years before coming to Scottsdale. We both worked at the business, and all of our kids grew up on the ranch. It was a fully operational guest ranch, so everyone learned how to ride and take care of the horses. I love the horse ranches, ranchettes, and larger horse properties in this area, they are very unique. When we sold our ranch business, we came to Scottsdale. Shannon is from here, so we actually moved “home.”

 

2. What specifically brought you to Keller Williams Arizona Realty?

 

David: Joe Bogar, a MAPS Coach, is a friend of mine. When we were looking into real estate for the next phase of our long-term business and life plan, he brought me to KWAZ and highly recommended that I consider joining the brokerage. 

 

Culture is very important to me, and KW’s culture is amazing. I also respect the leading brand aspect of Keller Williams. It is a name known throughout the real estate industry as a top tier firm, and highly successful in all areas of real estate.

 

There are a tremendous amount of opportunities for growth here at Keller Williams Arizona Realty, and not just on the real estate side of things. We have the ability to participate in ownership, investments, business growth, and the profit share system. Other agents here are easy to work with and eager to grow their own businesses.

 

3. What do you like most about working at this brokerage? 

 

David and Shannon: We both admire and enjoy working with the Leadership Team. Everyone is exceptionally qualified at what they do. They are passionate and capable of growing an organization like KWAZ. Notably, they all want you to succeed. Not only that, the Leadership Team members show concern for you as a person. 

 

David: I am a big fan of competency. Sometimes you just don’t find much competency at some locations any longer. At Keller Williams Arizona Realty, the folks are über-competent at what they do and willing to help others succeed.

 

4. Tell us about your Committee and its focus.

 

David: We are focusing on how we can get more money into the agent’s pockets. Both from a transactional perspective and through long term profit share. There are several tasks and initiatives involved in both areas. 

 

Shannon: KWAZ has so many great things about it. However, we know real estate can be a competitive industry. As a result, some brokerages can just be like a revolving door. So where does culture matter?

 

We want agents to fall in love with KWAZ. This brokerage has such an amazing heartbeat, from the top down, starting with Gary Keller. Our values of God, Family, and then Business support a level of loyalty that is not seen at other brokerages.

 

Our goal is to help create a cohesive and collaborative organization that drives belief, and that in turn drives growth. This will support loyalty to the brokerage so agents will want to remain at KWAZ. 

 

5. What motivated you to accept the leadership position of your Committee?

 

David: I saw the need for growth, and I have the ability to affect positive change. This change can affect families and households for years to come. I also enjoy working with the agents chosen for the ALC. They are terrific people, and we are a cohesive group.

 

Shannon: I have a strong passion and love for people and for culture. One of my favorite sayings is:

 

“Making a Living by Making a Difference”

 

I strive to live my life this way, making a true and positive difference wherever I can. I believe by creating a proper culture, we can teach people how to create loyalty and fall in love with the culture of who KWAZ really is.

 

6. What do you hope your Committee is able to achieve this year?

 

David: We hope to achieve substantive growth–positive, marketable growth in all areas of their respective businesses. There should be an increase in profit share accounts, and an increase in the effectiveness of that program. We may need to teach agents how to work the profit share program effectively for true long term gains. We also want to teach agents to be more competent and confident in their everyday transactional businesses.

 

Shannon: We would like to see increasing involvement from agents with the brokerage. If we can get people to improve their commitment to the market center, this will create more opportunities for people to see how wonderful our culture really is.

 

We want to make sure people know where they really are–at the best Scottsdale real estate brokerage! When people feel connected, they want to connect more. Initiatives are to increase awareness on how to get information they need to participate, learn, and grow. KWAZ needs the people to help drive the cohesion.

 

7. Where will we meet David and Shannon Johnson in the future?

 

David: I see myself continuing in a leadership role at KWAZ. My goal is to make a massive impact on the growth of the company, agents, and myself. This would let me do all that I want to do in my life. I am essentially creating my own:

 

“Life by Design”

 

Shannon: We are not really retirement people at all. For us, life is by choice! We are really into working with others, and are both leaders by nature. Our passion is helping others, and we have the same goal: leading on a large global stage with impact. This lets us create a life that we love.
