Meet Laura Myers!

An interview with Laura Myers of AZ Real Estate Consultants, and Top Solo Agent at Keller Williams Arizona Realty.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background in the local area.

I was lucky to fall into real estate. I never had a calling per se. My children were playing baseball, and one of the other parents was saying he could use some help at his office. I was looking to make extra income and thought I might try for that position. The next day I got ready for an interview and brought my resume ready to discuss my qualities. However, he said “What are you doing? You don’t need to interview” and instead hired me right away as a Transaction Coordinator. I was able to negotiate nearly 1000 contracts prior to transitioning into the sales side.

I was going through a transition in my life. So this opportunity let me support my family, while at the same time I was full time in college working on my BS in Psychology. . In 2004 I obtained my real estate license and transitioned to full time sales. I was Rookie of the Year on my team and have held top rankings since.

Our mission is to provide a client experience that compels you to refer your family and friends. 100% of my business is by referral of past clients, other agents, local businesses and family and friends. I can connect you to top agents around the world anywhere you are making your next move.

2. What brought you to Keller Williams Arizona Realty?

While at my previous position working as a Transaction Coordinator, I saw a few points that I believed should be addressed. However, the broker just took me off that one file, and did not work to correct the situation. Integrity is a priority.

I reached out to an agent who had left that office and went to work at Keller Williams. At that time, KWAZ was known as Keller Williams High Desert. I asked what she liked about the brokerage, and it was the mission and values I found most appealing. Faith and family are the most important factors in my own life, so the Keller Williams Culture is why I joined. I have always worked with Jim Dunning, the Broker, since I came to Keller Williams.

3. What do you like most about working with the KWAZ team?

From the first day when I met with Jim Dunning, the Keller Williams Values of God, Family, and Then Business drew me in. The team members are the best. When you walk into the market center, you have a team to help you right away.

The Leadership Team is amazing. The Managing Broker, Kate Matteson, is critical to my success. Susan Grass at the Front Desk is what I like to call a “deep connector” who shows genuine interest in everyone she meets. When I arrive at the market center, Susan Grass makes me feel like I am coming home. Leslie Creswell, the CFO/Market Center Administrator, offers exceptionally quick processing, and I feel comfortable that the team is looking out for my interests. The technical support from Casey Doty is also very helpful for any of my computer and program needs.

This level of support at the market center has been instrumental to my own success. It provides a solid base for me to launch my real estate career, grow in knowledge and experience, and now to pursue my long term goals.

4. Do you have a favorite client story you would like to share where you believe you helped them the most?

At the beginning of my career, I was holding open houses six days a week. I also talked to everyone I met, and worked to build my contact base. At one open house, I was getting information from the family that was there, and they had a 14 year old son, Tyler. I gave one of my business cards to him, and he said he was saving to buy his first home. I told him to call me when he was ready!

Six years later in 2011, Tyler called me and said he was ready to buy a house! He had been saving all his money from his job at In-n-Out Burger and birthday money, and we were able to find a great place for only $190,000 on a short sale. A few years later, I was able to sell it for him for double the amount he paid for it. Tyler has been continuing to stay in touch, and now we have them in their first family home as he and I welcomed Rachel into their first purchase together! I love getting the news when a family grows. Staying Tuned!

5. What is the secret to your success?

The secret to my success is something I like to call:

“Picking up the Nugget”

When I started my career in real estate, I did not listen to the white noise around me. Instead, I held open houses and I started building from a local standpoint.

Then I went to Keller Williams’ conferences, and that began the next level of my career. The networking opportunities at the conferences helped me meet agents around the world and make strong connections. As a result, these agents would call me when they had clients looking to move or connections ready to sell in Arizona. I eventually became the Top Referral Agent, and now the Top Solo Agent. I work my local contacts, network with other agents, and now have a global referral business.

6. If you could give one piece of helpful advice to a new real estate agent, what would that be?

Relationships are the #1 factor in my own success, so find the place where you are most comfortable building those relationships. Whether your spot is social media, marketing programs, or local activities, work these to your best advantage.

Also, don’t forget to make time for face-to-face interactions. You can have the best marketing and contact program around, and those personal interactions are the most important. This is vital in order to build and secure that level of comfort and trust.

It’s people first.  Provide clarity in the market so clients can make informed decisions. Create an amazing experience so they want to share you with their friends and family who need you too!

Most important is self care, when you create your calendar, put your vacation on it first and then make that vacation awesome! When you are well rested and restored you are better for your clients and you are present for your life and those you love!

7. Where will we meet Laura Myers in the future?

I am building my real estate investment portfolio to provide cash flow from real estate investments to let me travel around the world in retirement. I intend to be doing whatever I want, wherever I want, and with whom I want to be with and helping others do the same for themselves! I enjoy the coaching platform I’ve been involved in and look forward to the success of others by helping them live their best life too!
