Meet Sarina Bergman!

An interview with Sarina Bergman, Luxury REALTOR® at Keller Williams Arizona Realty, and Co-Chairperson of the Education Committee on the Keller Williams Arizona Realty Agent Leadership Council (ALC) for 2022.

1. Tell us about your background and interest in real estate.

In my life I have had three different careers, all of them very interesting. When I lived in New York City, I was a Buyer for the Lord & Taylor department store for eight years. I lived on the Upper East Side, and I spent most of my time around the fashion industry in the Garment District. In Manhattan, the Garment District runs along Seventh Avenue (also called “Fashion Avenue” in the city) between Penn Station and Times Square

When I moved to Santa Monica, California, I got into Pharmaceutical Sales. After three years though, I moved back to New Jersey near to where my parents live, and I continued in this career. I enjoyed this for a total of ten years, and found I was well-suited to meeting people and talking to them about the company and products I represented.

We moved to Arizona in 2010 and I decided to start a new career. Both of my parents were in real estate in New Jersey, and when I was young I would attend open house and walk through construction sites. I obtained my Arizona real estate salesperson’s license and joined Keller Williams Arizona Realty for two years, and then went to another brokerage for six years. I came back to KWAZ and have been here ever since.

2. What specifically brought you to Keller Williams Arizona Realty?

When I first got started in real estate, I wanted the training from Keller Williams. I have always been very impressed with KW’s training and coaching. When someone gets their license, they have the book knowledge, but no real world knowledge of how things really work in the field. The brokerage helps new agents figure out what to do in the real world. Not only that–KWAZ focuses on how to make agents be highly successful in their careers.

When I returned to Keller Williams Arizona Realty for the second time, I had my license for nine years. Keller Williams teaches agents how to run a business and understand a P&L statement. They also help you understand how to build a team if you want, and offer many other opportunities. Their training is the best for learning how to structure a business. The leadership team members are happy to work with agents. Agent appreciation is high at KWAZ, and it means a lot to all of us agents. The staff truly cares about us and our success.

3. What do you like most about working at this brokerage?

What I like most about working at Keller Williams Arizona Realty is the appreciate for the agents. This is a very welcoming environment, and everyone is very friendly. If I have a question, I can go to anyone and they will be willing to provide an answer and guidance. Agents in different parts of the business are open and glad to talk to other agents. KWAZ is one of the most warm and welcoming brokerages in the entire area.

4. Tell us about your Committee and its focus.

Our focus is to ensure that all agents have access to learning, training, and coaching opportunities at all levels of their career. Anyone can learn, no matter where they are in their real estate career. The targeted segments on each class in the email newsletters help us identify if we have a need to create another class for any specific agent audience. All agents need to learn and grow, from the brand new licensee to the senior and executive associates at the top of their career path.

5. What motivated you to accept the leadership position of your Committee?

I took the leadership position because I wanted to be involved with the Agent Leadership Council. We all want to see the brokerage succeed and be profitable. I especially like to help the new agents, since I remember what it was like to be a new agent myself.

6. What do you hope your Committee is able to achieve this year?

We implemented using the targeted segments to help agents determine which classes they might most benefit from based on their level of experience. These targeted segments match the segments used by Keller Williams:

  1. All Agents
  2. Fundamentals (0 – 18 Transactions)
  3. Growth (18-36 Transactions)
  4. Achievement (36 + Transactions)

We also work to be responsive to market changes and needs, pivoting to the realities of today. By recognizing what might be most helpful, we can adjust the classes and training to help agents be fully prepared to meet the needs of today’s market.

7. Where do you see yourself in the future–where will we meet Sarina Bergman?

Focusing on this year ahead, I am not sure if I want to develop a team, but I do have a Transaction Coordinator (TC). I am looking to hire an Assistant to help me with my real estate business. My son is getting ready to go to college soon, so I have to get ready for that transition as well. I see myself staying on the ALC. I am enjoying my service there very much this year and I want our Committee to be successful.
